Importance of Twitter, Friendship and Fans #PrayForPriya

#Last night I noticed one of my twitter followers is going through a difficult time in her life. I don't know her real name, she calls her self Priya Ramsay  as a huge Marianas Trench fan she uses the lead singer Josh Ramsay's last name and the bands name in her @ mention (@PriyaMTrench). I met Priya on twitter about a month or two ago, (I had Priya confused with another Trencher, but this is still all relevant!)as a fellow Trencher as us Marianas Trench fans call ourselves. Now Trenchers are all ages, myself being 35 and I believe Priya to be in her teens, but age doesn't matter, once a Trencher always a Trencher. We even send Christmas cards to other Trenchers, we are a family. Priya has been so supportive of me and my writing, my books and all because we both like the same band. Why is it that because you share one thing in common you can feel such an attachment to someone, without even meeting them? Trenchers are hard core, we love our band, their music, videos and most of all each other. Trenchers support other Trenchers and we love other Trenchers.  So it's obvious we will stick together when one of our own is in need.

On February 13, 2012 Priya was having a bad time dealing with some demons from her past. She tweeted that at 10 years old she was sexually assaulted, forced into drugs and used to cut herself. She felt alone and as friends began to leave her things got harder. After a series of tweets saying how done she is and how much she hated herself Priya said her goodbye's to us fellow Trenchers. "Just... I can't even. Just, bye. I'm freaking done forever." She has not tweeted since!

Since then Trenchers have been praying for Priya. Tagging tweets with #PrayForPriya and even trending it Canada wide. Fellow Trenchers have been worried sick about Priya and what she may have done. Now it's been two days since she has said goodbye and it has been reported that she hasn't been in school. I also read a blog, (that I can't find now) which reported that Priya slit her throat and is in critical condition in hospital.

I hate hearing of anyone dealing with the kind of things this young girl is dealing with, but at the same time it warms my heart to see so many people can show another that they care, even when they don't really know each other. Some say that social networking friendships are not real, I beg to differ! Not only have I seen how many people, Trenchers care for Priya, I have felt it myself. I have made some of the best friends I have ever had online. I even get to meet them next month. For now though I will continue to Pray For Priya and hope for a full recovery and that she receives the help and protection she needs. We love you Priya.

I hope that others can learn from Priya's situation and see that there's people out there that care and that want to talk to you, help you through the tough times. So if you or someone you know is going through a difficult time turn to others, don't destroy yourself be holding it in. As for everyone else, be there for someone who needs you, today may be the day you save a life.

If you are going through a difficult time and need to talk to some one call the national help lines, these people are volunteering their time, because they care about you. Most of all remember you are important, beautiful and special.

UPDATE 8pm MST Feb 15 - @PriyaRamsay has tweeted, "Okay guys, here's the real story. I tried to kill myself that day. I was broken & hurting very baddly, I couldn't see a better decision then just getting it all over with by ending my life. So I took a knife, & some rat poisin my mother had kept in our house ever since ( just in case we had a "problem". I went & locked myself in my room, & began to cut my arms. I lost alot of blood & was getting disey. Then I got up & was about to take the poisin, but before I could, my friends (Emma & Talia) read my tweets and came rushing to my house. They immedietly took me to St. Paul’s Hospital here in Vancouver. I was uncontious for about 30 mins until I woke up, unable to move my body. Ever since then, I've been in the hospital getting suacidal counciling. It's why I haven't tweeted in over 48 hours or so. I came on today to see all this love from my fellow Trenchers, Astronauts & Hedley Hoes. I'm so touched honestly. I didn't know I was this loved. So much that you guys prayed for my health ever since. You got me trending in Canada & continuesly tried to Trend "#PrayForPriya". Thank you for all this. Words aren't enough to describe how my you all mean to me truely. I saw there was even people changing their DP's on Twitter to"PrayForPriya". & Even that there was a video made. You guys mean everytthing to me, I can't imagine where I would be without you. I've learned my lesson, I'm sorry I made you go through this. I promise, I will try to never do this again. You guys saved my life. & I couldn't thank you more.

Now, just to clear things up, I saw that there was some girl named  or somethinng who was "Updating" you all on how I was doing. To be honest, I don't know this girl. I don't know any Leah, besides my best friend named Leah, who passes away last year. This  girl has been lieing to you! Please, never EVER trust anyone like that, please. I know she got you worried sick, & I apoligize for this. Please, spam & block her. People like this deserve nothing but awful hate.

Once again, Thank you for everything. I'm currently still recovering. I can't move my arms yet, & I for some reason can't eat either. Your prayers have saved me & helped me in every way possible. Hopefully, you will keep praying until I'm fully better, I can't imagine better friends then my twitter family :)
PS : I'll try to get back to everyone of you who were worried sick about me and tweeting me hoping I was fine. I'm sorry if I don't get to you, but I'll trying. There's nothing that I can do to pay you back that will be enough for how much you care. Lovee yaaa <3 :)"  Priya know that many people love and care for you even if we have never met. We are here for you when you need us and our Trencher family needs you. Huge hugs.
